About Blake

The kind of person who owns it from start to finish.

I grew up in Grandview Heights, Ohio with a simple philosophy: if you want something done, own it from start to finish. A two-time state soccer champion and track athlete, I launched a bicycle repair business at 14 — building a client base through word of mouth before most kids had a resume.

My Eagle Scout project says everything about how I operate. Rather than taking the easy route, I spent four months planning and building an all-natural walking trail in Wyman Woods — doing everything from the design to the physical labor myself.

Now a sophomore at CU Boulder's Leeds School of Business, I'm pursuing a BBA while competing in downhill and enduro mountain bike racing, charging big mountain lines on skis, and serving as Trip Planner of the Mountain Bike Club.

Beyond the mountains, I'm building my foundation in real estate — learning the business from the inside through my family's multifamily portfolio. I'm not waiting until after graduation to start.

Mountain Biking & Racing

The thing I'm most passionate about.

Mountain biking isn't just something I do — it's how I think. From the first time I hit a trail to competing at the regional level, riding has been the constant thread through every phase of my life. It's taken me to the best places I've ever been, introduced me to some of my closest friends, and given me something I could share with my family — teaching them to ride and building memories in the mountains together.

Racing sharpened everything. Starting in the lowest categories and working up through the field taught me that progress doesn't happen by accident — it takes showing up consistently, learning from every mistake, and adapting to whatever the course throws at you. Some of the most demanding days of my life have been on a bike. That's not just good training for racing. It's good training for everything.

Adaptability

No two trails are the same — and no two race days are either. Racing demanded constant adaptation: to new terrain, changing conditions, mechanicals, and moments when the plan falls apart mid-descent. Learning to read a situation and respond instead of panic is a skill that transfers everywhere.

🧠
Mental Strength

Some of the longest, hardest days of my life have been on a bike. Enduro racing demands sustained effort over brutal terrain — hours of climbing followed by timed descents where your legs and your focus both have to show up. Building the capacity to push through discomfort is something I carry into everything else.

📈
Progression

I started in the lowest racing categories and worked my way up to competing at the regional level. That process — learning the fundamentals, identifying weaknesses, and improving through repetition — is the same approach I bring to any new skill or challenge. You start where you are and you keep going.

🤝
Community & Family

Mountain biking has taken me to places I'd never have seen otherwise and introduced me to some of my best friends. It's also something I've been able to share with my family — teaching them to ride, watching them fall in love with it too. That side of it matters just as much as the racing.

Social Chairman
Trip Planner · Current

As a board member of the CU Boulder Mountain Bike Club, I've served as Social Chairman and now lead all trip planning for one of the most active outdoor clubs on campus. The role combines logistics, community building, and real leadership — coordinating overnight trips, organizing group rides, and running beginner skills clinics for new members.

It's also taught me how to work effectively with a team that doesn't always agree — navigating board disagreements, aligning on decisions, and keeping things moving. The same skills that make a good trip planner make a good operator.

Overnight Trips Led

Flagship Trip

Moab, Utah

Multi-Day Overnight · Slickrock Country

60Attendees

Our biggest annual trip — coordinating travel, camping, and daily rides for 60 riders across the world-class trails of Moab. Managing group logistics at that scale means something always needs solving on the fly.

Crested Butte

Colorado · Overnight

Helped lead an overnight trip to one of Colorado's most iconic mountain biking destinations — handling logistics, route planning, and on-trail leadership for club members.

Winter Park

Colorado · Overnight

Coordinated the overnight trip to Winter Park Resort — managing travel, campsite setup, and trail planning from start to finish for the group.

🗓️
Event Planning

Coordinating overnight camping trips for up to 60 people means handling every detail — travel, campsites, routes, timing, and contingencies. Nothing happens without a plan and someone to own it.

📣
Promotion & Recruitment

As Social Chairman, growing and engaging the club required reaching new members, creating interest, and keeping the community active — skills that transfer directly to any marketing or business development role.

🤝
Team Building

Working on a board means getting alignment from people with different priorities. Building trust, running group rides, and coaching beginners all come back to the same thing: making people feel like they belong.

⚖️
Conflict Resolution

Not every board decision is unanimous. Learning to navigate disagreements, find common ground, and keep the team moving forward without burning relationships is one of the most underrated skills you can build early.
